Sorting and quality inspection of capsules through automation

To inspect and control the quality of capsules, Stream by Sensum is a good choice for large-scale capsule quality control. The machine facilitates inspection during the passage of capsules through a conveyor belt with the ability to move in the forward direction, rotating around its axis. Automatic Inspection and Sorting of Capsules, Tablets and Soft Gels

Spine by Sensum is designed to ensure accurate and automatic visual inspection and sorting of tablets, capsules and soft gels at the speed up to 630,000 products per hour. Products in a size range of 4 to 28 mm are fed via a funnel and held in reproducible position automatically by means of vacuum and two continuously rotating cylindrical rollers. Surface inspection is performed via six colour cameras mounted at different angles to ensure inspection of all surfaces of each product on rollers. Then defected products are individually sorted at the bottom of these rollers with very delicate use of compressed air. This machine is controlled by a graphical user interface to monitor and verify both good and defective products safely and accurately. It can identify a large number of defects like sizes, colour deviations, cracks, dots, dirt, dents, bubbles, variations in prints or edges by comparing actual product with expected specifications. This equipment can inspect pharmaceutical products like plain, coated and multi-layer tablets, opaque, bi-colour and transparent capsules and a large variety of soft gels.

Inspecting and sorting in high-speed medicine production

The Sensum Spine Hypo is an inspection and sorting unit for highly toxic products with a fully automatic mode of operation in which defected products are detected and separated automatically. The Sensum Spine Hypo unit inspects the entire surface of a product (tablet, capsule, and softgels) at a speed of up to 360,000 products per hour. The products are transferred in the inspection system with a vacuum. A combination of six-colour cameras is used to thoroughly inspect the product. The active sorting system separates defective products with compressed air which fall under gravity to a compartment for defective products, while the perfect quality product moves forward for packing. Sensum Spine Hypo can be trained to identify the defects in new products by providing defect-free samples of the product. It will automatically recognize its colour, shape, thickness, etc. Once it is trained for the new product, which usually takes 10 minutes, the unit is ready for operation.

Sensum Spine Hypo performs 100 percent visual inspection, meaning, it scans all sides of the tablets, capsules or softgels to find any defects. The defects it can check for include the presence of a foreign product, colour deviation, shape, cracks, coating defects, thickness, chips, lamination defects, uneven surfaces, engraving defects, dirt, dots, damaged edges, and damaged prints.

The machine protects against contamination using inlet and outlet air filtering, the negative pressure in the process area, and using separation of the process with a barrier (gaskets, seals, silicone sealing). The inlet air filtering protects the clean room from air backflow, while outlet air filtering removes the dust from exhaust air. The separation barrier is another security against contamination supplemented by negative pressure in the process area. Moreover, Spine Hypo also enables use of contained feeding and discharging systems, such as safe connection to IBCs containers and continuous liners.

Sensum Spine Hypo has options for dry and wet cleaning in containment and has glove ports for safe access and interaction without breaking the containment. Dry cleaning with aspiration enables the removal of excessive surface powder accumulated during inspection and wet cleaning can be used to remove airborne powders from the process area of the unit.

Counting machine for tablets, capsules, and soft gels

CVC’s electronic16 channel counter is designed for the fast and precise counting of tablets, capsules, and soft gels. The machine is designed with servo driven flaps to improve the accuracy of the pre-count functions. Moreover, it helps in increasing the operational life while reducing the need to replace pneumatically driven actuators.

Being equipped with an automatic dust compensation system, the CVC’s tablet counting machine maintains high hygienic standards. The built-in track sensors enable the machine to provide with precise and absolute control, as it can verify product count and reject damaged dosages.

The machine can handle single or double bottle discharge. It has 16V shaped counting channels per head, which can all be setups to run one bottle allowing less changeover. Another option available is using 8 counting channels to run two bottles.

Other additional options to implement, include hopper level control with tower Lamp, upside down bottle sensor, static eliminator bar, channel blocker, and floor loaded tablet pre feeder.

Semi-automatic electronic counter adjustable for all product sizes

The KZ-1 electronic Counter by Dott Bonapace guarantees the utmost versatility in counting. It arranges of fixed speed for different sizes of the products to count and performing simple or multiple count from 1 to 999.999 pieces. The R&D electronic counter has a capacity of about 240-250 bottles per hour (by counting about 50 pcs.).

It can be adapted to the different sizes of capsules, tablets and pearl through a simple manual adjustment and give the possibility to unload the counted products into a drawer or directly into bottles by a special device.

Machine dimensions are 32 x 36 x 27h, cm and net weight is 18kg.
